Oatly Oat-Milk Barista Edition 12ct 32 fl oz slim cartons

Oatly 12-count “Slim Cartons” produced within a given time frame are part of the recall. See the FDA website for a complete list of products.

Numerous products from prominent coffee industry brands Oatly, Intelligentsia Coffee and Stumptown Coffee Roasters are among 53 items being recalled due to a potential for microbial contamination.

Announced by the United States Food and Drug Administration late last week, the voluntary recall comes from foodservice packaging and processing company Lyons Magnus, a.k.a. Lyons.

Intelligentsia Oat Latte 12ct 330ml cartons

Two types of Intelligentsia cartons are part of the recall.

In its recall announcement, the company said certain products did not meet commercial sterility specifications, creating risk for contamination, including by the organism Cronobacter sakazakii. That is the same bacterial culprit that led to the recall of numerous popular infant formula products earlier this year and a subsequent nationwide shortage.

The company said that common symptoms of illness caused by Cronobacter sakazakii include fever, vomiting and urinary tract infection, while vulnerable and immunocompromised populations may be more susceptible to infection.

To date, no illnesses or complaints related to the recalled products have been reported, and none of the recalled products are intended for infants.

Among the recalled products are 12-count 32-ounce “slim cartons” of Oatly’s “Barista Edition” oat milk, a popular option in U.S. cafes and coffee shops.

Stumptown Cold Brew Coffee With Oat Milk Original 12ct 325ml cartons

Numerous types of Stumptown RTD cartons are part of the recall.

Other products being recalled are numerous beverages under the the “Lyons Barista Style” brand, 12-count packages of Cold Coffee and Oat Latte cartons by Intelligentsia, and five different 12-count ready-to-drink carton beverages by Stumptown.
