Tropicalia Coffee In Bogota, Colombia

This is now the second jaw-droppingly beautiful new cafe in Colombia to appear on this season of the Build-Outs of Coffee. What’s up with that? There’s something special happening—it’s design, it’s coffee quality, it’s direct sourcing relationships and international influence meeting a deeply felt cultural connection and curation of the coffee experience. The latest must-visit cafe in Colombia is Tropicalia Coffee in Bogota.

The 2022 Build-Outs of Coffee is presented by Dripos Dona, and Mill City Roasters. Build-Outs of Coffee 2022 is sponsored by Pacific Barista Series, La MarzoccoAcaia, and Marco Beverage Systems.

For those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about your company?

We have roasted many different coffees from hundreds of coffee producers in Colombia, visiting their farms and getting to know most of them personally. We have also had the chance to visit coffee shops in many parts of the world, learning from our peers in other countries.

Throughout this time, we have learned that our purpose is not to be the best coffee roaster in the world or have the sleekest packaging. Though we do want to provide our customers with an excellent product and an amazing customer experience, that is not what really drives us.

Tropicalia’s purpose is to elevate coffee’s value. To achieve this, we must source great coffee from great coffee producers. We must roast those coffee to perfection and package them as soon as possible to preserve freshness, so that when the coffee is brewed you will perceive all the flavors crafted by the farmers who produced the coffee and are transported to the tropics where coffee is grown.

Finally we must also share their stories to the world, inspiring and transporting you those magical regions that are ultimately responsible for the terroir that you taste.

If we do all this right, we are confident that coffee drinkers will be willing to reward us all with their trust, their loyalty, and be willing to pay economically sustainable prices that allow us to elevate coffee and all of us to win.

We sincerely hope you enjoy the fruits of our love as much as we do.

Can you tell us a bit about the new space?

Inspired by the tropics and the richness of its territory, we have created a warm, quiet, and welcoming space, a place to spend the day with friends, family, or come to work and eat delicious food from breakfast to dinner, always accompanied by the best coffees.

What’s your approach to coffee?

We buy directly from small coffee producers in Colombia help them to have better coffees each time and to recognize its work. Here in Colombia there are wonderful coffees we just roast very well and show to the world, the hands of coffee producers and his stories through a cup of coffee.

Any machines, coffees, special equipment lined up?

How is your project considering sustainability?

We are working to get this goal to pay more to the producer, putting more value to the origin, roasting, and exporting from producer country.
